Year: 2024
Duration: 40 min.
Original language: no dialogues
Echo Alfa Delta Zulu is the result of a research process around the sea and the existing sound/visual archive, both in culture and online. This proposal arises from the contrast between the real and imaginary worlds, meaning it confronts the epic narrative created around life and work at sea with the reality experienced by those who live from the sea. A hyperconnected world through technology (radars, sonars, etc.), but also disconnected and claustrophobic. This performance is a constant play of antithesis, of opposites, drawing from personal experience, which is alive in the sense that it is improvised, adapting to each reality and moment: like a boat correcting its course as the sea responds.
CLOSING FILM
VOCES DA CONSERVA
Lesmes Iglesias
Country: Spain (Galicia)
Year: 2023
Duration: 5 min. / 19 min.
Original language: Galician
Voces da conserva tells the story of the rise of salting and the beginnings of hermetic canning in Barbanza-Arousa, from the native pioneers and promoters to the entrepreneurs who came from Catalonia. It addresses the transformation of the sector and the changes brought about by various crises, conflicts, and wars, as well as the value of the industry and the product as cornerstones of economic development and the basis for the population’s subsistence for over a century. Encarnación, a former worker in the canning industry, guides us along with four other protagonists to recreate those years, both distant and, at the same time, so close.
